Our Philosophy
At Lightstream Pictures, we believe that how you make a movie is as important as the movie you make. To make a movie is a promise and a prayer; it requires from its creators authenticity, boldness and passion.
We try to come to what we do from a place of love, because we believe the medium of film has a unique ability to achieve something both ephemeral and lasting, to connect with people on a multitude of levels, and to tell great stories with an immediacy that goes straight to the heart and awakens something deep in the subconscious.
As artists and storytellers, we trust that our own subjectivity is the gateway to universal understanding, that the best way to cut a path to the hearts of the audience is through our own hearts.
We believe that small can be beautiful but that hugeness is nothing to be afraid of, that “scale” should be determined not by demographics or genre but by the scope and narrative path of the story we are trying to tell.
And, above all else, we believe the story must come first.
So in an attempt to put into practice the ideals we hold dear and to personify the change we seek, we resolve to operate according to the following principles:
- That filmmakers are servants of the story.
- That every great movie can find it’s perfect audience.
- That timeless, universal themes will connect with audiences of all demographics.
- That decisions made in good faith will reap positive results and that great movies can speak to our hearts and broaden our minds.
